Still using quadrants, pyramids or bubble charts to visualize your analyst relations program? Here’s a fresh alternative: hijack Mike Gotta’s blog posts — complete with a chart, by the way — on communications context zones. He presents a frame of reference that’s simple, hip, and easy to explain. It divides communications context and “attention cycles” into bands, from most salient to nascent.
You can use this model to plot outreach tactics and targets. I think you could just as easily use it to plot analysts relative to constituencies.
In fact, I can envision presenting an entire AR program using this type of model and a 2D presentation interface, such as Schulze & Webb’s tilting interface for a 2D slideshow (hat tip to Russell Davies). How cool is that?
Of course, I’m biased. I’ll take Nintendo Revolution over a spreadsheet any day.
Now just to be clear, Mike had no intention whatsoever of associating his posts with analyst relations. He’s casting nets in much wider, deeper waters.
